Getting started

Getting started
How many of us have goals that we’ll get to “One day”? Ever made plans to learn to surf? Play an instrument? Start your own business? Maybe even the big one: Get healthier? Imagine if you started that goal when you first thought of it? How far along would you be now? You might even be finished! At some stage, you have to actually begin, but first you have to deal with what stopped you starting yesterday. Here are some of the excuses you might have used:

I’ll start when I have time

You already have time. Let’s be honest here, if you knew that you would get a million dollars after every gym session, you’d be there three times a day, at least. So it’s not really a matter of time, but priorities. We all lead busy lives. We have jobs, families, hobbies and obligations, but making time for your health is one thing that helps with every other activity. Getting healthier will make you just that little bit more confident, more sure that you can overcome the obstacles in your path, and help you understand that whatever comes up, you will find a way.

I can’t afford it right now

Let’s examine this. If your goal is to get healthy, how much does it really cost? Shopping for good, fresh food is actually pretty cheap. Sure, there’s more to it than microwaving a dinner, but it’s a whole lot more satisfying, both physically and mentally. For training, If you’re really out of spare money, there’s always options around the house. Push ups, sit ups, body squats and so many other exercises don’t need equipment, accessories or gym memberships, and can have great results if you stick with them.

I just need to get the right gear first

You don't need to get the biggest pack of C4 Original, Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Pre-Workout or International Protein WPI at once, try starting slowly. The right gear can help. If you’re running, a good pair of shoes is necessary, but be honest about how much stuff you need, and how much you just want. Everyone likes to look good, and make their training as efficient as possible, but getting a music player, heart rate monitor, compression wear, lifting gloves, weight belt and gym towel made from the chest hair of Arnold Schwarzenegger won’t do anything for you unless you actually do something. Get started first, then IF you feel like you need special equipment, then you can get it once you’re committed.

I’m embarrassed, I want to lose a bit of weight first

This is a big one, but you know what? Any gym or training group worth joining knows how hard it is when you start. sure, some of them may have been born with rock hard abs and never had to dread beach season, but plenty more have people who had to earn their healthy body. They know how hard it is to start on the road to getting healthy, and the truth is that they respect you for getting onto it. They know that every time you turn up, you know it’s going to hurt, it’s going to be uncomfortable and it’s going to wear you out, but you keep coming back because you want to get healthier. You rock, and they respect that!

I’ll be no good at it

Of course you won’t. No one is good at something they haven’t done before, or if they haven’t done it in a long time. Getting good at something takes time. It’s hard at first, but stick with it and you’ll soon improve. You won’t realise just how much until you see the next batch of newbies come through.

I don’t know where to begin

The answer to this excuse is to always begin at the start. Ask someone who has done what you want to do, and start where they started. If you don’t know anyone, feel free to ask us! The only reason Supps R Us exists is because of you guys, and we want to help you achieve your goals and get healthy -whether it means buying supplements or not.

I’m too old

No, you’re not. Sure, once you get along in years you won’t be able to do the activities that you used to be able to do, but there are still so many ways you can get healthy and lose weight without trying to do the impossible. Again, if you’re having trouble, feel free to ask us about some ideas on how you can get a little healthier.

Remember your reason

There must have been a reason that made you want to get healthier, and come to this website. Whatever that is, write it down. Remember it. Whenever you feel like quitting, remember it. If you think you’d rather just sleep, refer back to it. Make that reason the main thing that keeps you going.

Stop reading and do something about it. Start now!

It’s great that you’re researching everything before you start. Doing things right the first time is a great way to save time and headaches, but eventually you need to actually go and do something. Give yourself a time to start, and make it very soon.

Finish what you start

Once you’ve decided to start, make it your goal to see it through. There will be setbacks, problems and obstacles, but if you want it enough, you will find a way to make it happen. Your will is strong enough if you want it to be. Read More:
