Polyunsaturated Fats

Polyunsaturated Fats
Fats aren’t the demon lurking in your food, in fact, the right fats are vital to good health. Poly-unsaturated fats are one of the good guys, but you still don’t want too much of it.

What are Poly-unsaturated fats?

Polyunsaturated fats are liquid at room temperature, like monounsaturated fats, but they tend to go rancid a lot quicker, and become solid when chilled.

Why should I eat them?

Poly fats can help reduce the amount of cholesterol in your blood, and can also offset some of the bad effects of saturated fat. You still have to keep your fat intake under control though, too much and it will add to your fat stores.

What do they do for me?

Poly-unsaturated fats are a great substitute for bad fats. Besides being much less likely to congeal in your arteries, poly fats can actually reduce the likelihood of diabetes, lower blood cholesterol and help transport more vitamins through your body.

How often should I eat them?

Like everything you put in your body, moderation is important for general health. While Poly fats are generally “good” for you, just like carbohydates, but you have to keep in mind what else you’re having with it. If you’re having sunflower oil as a little dressing on a salad, that’s great. If you’re drinking it like a thirsty camel, besides being pretty icky, it’ll do you no good at all. Some good sources of poly fats can be sunflower oil, corn oil and fatty fish like Salmon and Tuna. Although some multivitamins contain some poly fats, only a few ones contain them, getting your poly fats from natural sources are far better.

What foods are high in Poly Fats?

Getting some poly fats in your diet is as easy as including some seeds, seed oil and fish in your diet, such as:
  • soybean oil,
  • corn oil and
  • sunflower seeds
  • fatty fish such as salmon, mackerel, herring and trout.

What if I eat too much of it?

Too much of poly fats are not a great idea. You’ll get added fat in your system and it’ll be stored around your body, probably in the last place you want it to go. You cant just rely on fat burners and weight loss supplements to curb down your fats. Just be mindful of your daily fat intake.

What if I don’t eat enough?

Eating too little of the poly fats isn’t a great idea either. You’ll miss out on the benefits, and could actually be damaging your health. You’ll also be doing serious damage to your health if you’re eating trans-fats. Without the added poly fats, such as omega-3, any trans fats you eat won’t have anything to stop them from wreaking havoc on your system. Your body is screaming for help, but nothing’s coming!

Is it safe for women too?

Yes, poly fats are just as safe for women. You will have to make sure you don’t overindulge though, just like men. It may seem odd, but a little more poly fats and a little less saturated fat can actually really help you lose weight and feel great!

Conclusion:

It sounds crazy, but getting a bit more of the right fats in your diet could actually make you healthier. Just remember to keep the type and amount under control and you can make your health goals happen just that bit sooner! Read More:
